morning mumble

I just visited guest blog who visit my blog in other day, then i interested about this article mention that:

"One of the big hurdles for the Linux community is money. Many times there are not the funds from any one group to actually get a platform popular enough for mainstream use. Google has invested millions of dollars and will take a loss on much of the platform for a number of years in order to get it popular. This money will be made back through data that is provided by users as well as advertising. This is one of the only ways of getting Linux out there with a large company that has money.

Although it's hard to imagine any small Linux distribution to have the money that Google has, this isn't the best it's ever going to get. Once platforms like Android prove themselves to users in the marketplace, Linux or at least open systems will become much more accepted and wanted. If one is using a platform that is open, it means there will be more freedom and creativity. Once users are used to this, open platforms will become more widely accepted."

For my opinion, it's true that when open source, there will be more freedom and creativity. Currently in my mind, i still hate Google because they become arrogant when popular. Never mind. Back to the topic, the problem is when you get free, i mention it before, the end user will never appreciate or value it if it's free. That is true natural. I already experienced 3 years developing and distributed open source project and services to community and people around me. 1st for all they like it, because it's free and they can get the things better than licensed source, but in the end they will never appreciated it because it's free. So people less caring or keep it well. It's also true the main problem for open source distribution are funding. Anything in this world it's not free, it not belong to us. We just borrowed it.

For example, just assume if someone give you free netbook. for first time you will happy, it's it? Then later you will ignore that netbook and left it behind because it's free.

Next try assume that you buy netbook with your own money. It's about 500 bucks. Even it's cheap and not free, you will keep that netbook well and care it. Rite? Just ask yourself.

So my conclusion is, it's does matter what do you want to do. Either free or paid, the best thing is just appreciated what other give it to you. If it's free, you are lucky. if's it's need paid, you are unlucky. Just remember if  you give anything free, you will get nothing!.
